Spooky season is upon us! With just over two weeks to go until Halloween, it’s time to grab your pumpkins and start planning your look. I don’t tend to do much for Halloween, but I do love an excuse to play with some makeup. This year, I was challenged by Boots to create a zombie makeup look.

I was gifted some products to help me with this challenge which were:
– Nyx Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk
– Morphe x Jaclyn Hill eyeshadow palette in Armed & Gorgeous
– NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Transylvania
– Doll Beauty lashes in Poppy
Boots wanted me to create a look that would help me to stand out from the crowd. I decided to try two different looks. The first one would be a typical, scary zombie makeup look, the second would be a glam, zombie inspired look.

Look One – Scary Zombie Makeup
For the Scary Zombie, I started off by doing my base makeup. I used a high coverage foundation and concealer in a pale shade. This was the perfect base to build upon.
Instead of adding any sort of bronzer or blusher as I usually would, I used my bronzer brush to apply the eyeshadow to my face. I used the shade Access across my cheeks, nose and chin. Then I used the shade Smooth Criminal to deepen the colour on my cheeks. This helped to give a more hollowed out look. Then I took the khaki green shade, Top Secret and applied this in the same areas to give the appearance of rotting flesh.
I then used the Jumbo Eye Pencil all over my lips to get rid of any pigmentation. Once my lips were white, I powdered them down before adding more of the eyeshadow.

For my eyes, I used the shade Access in my crease taking it a little bit higher up than I usually would. I also used the shade underneath my eyes but took it quite far down. I then added the shade Smooth Criminal all over my lids. The yellows and dark tones helped to make my eyes appear more dead and spooky.
I planned to use the glam eyelashes for this look, however my watery eyes said no. I really struggled to apply the lashes, instead just adding a slick of waterproof mascara to finish the look off.

Look Two – Glam Zombie Makeup
The second look is something that you could wear to any Halloween party or event. It’s not particularly spooky, but I did take inspiration from the colours of rotting zombie flesh.
Using the same base makeup as before, I then added some bronzer, a sheer pink blusher and some highlighter. These products added a bit of colour and dimension back into my face.
On my eyes, I used Access in the crease with a bit of Agent to darken it up. I then took Top Secret and applied it all over the lid before adding Coin on top to really make the look stand out. I added a thick wing of liquid eyeliner and some mascara.

My lips were perhaps my favourite part of this look. I used the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Transylvania which is a gorgeous vampy purple. It dries down almost instantly and is opaque in just one swipe. It does rub off a bit when I eat, but it leaves a lovely coloured stain behind. I think this zombie makeup look is something that I could wear for other events but with a nude lip.
What are your plans for Halloween?

You make an amazing glam zombie. I now need that NXY lipstick IMMEDIATELY
I love the glam look, I’m obsessed with darker lip colours at the moment as the season changes. Halloween is the perfect opportunity for me to dress up too as I’m naturally so pale
I love the oranges and golds on you

Oh I love both of these looks! Especially the first, so cool!!
I love the lips on both of these looks! x
You look positively ghastly in the first photo so I’d say you certainly achieved the look! I’ll have to get you to do my makeup too xx

These make-up styles really suit you. I wish I had the nerve to pull off such bright colours.
Looking at the colour palette, I thought the final look would be quite plain and boring but it does actually look glamourous

Amazing looks and wonderful to see that they can be achieved using a high street store rather than specialist retailers
