When I think of autumn, I think of cosy nights in, wrapping up warm, sitting in coffee shops with a book and of course, Halloween. Autumn is definitely my favourite season of the four – probably because it includes my birthday! One of my favourite things about autumn is the scents. It’s definitely the time for scented candles and switching your perfumes around.

Autumn perfumes

For a long time, I’ve been a fan of The Library of Fragrance. They have an amazing selection of perfumes in many wonderful scents. They’ve got everything you can think of including Rain, Puppy’s Breath and Play-Doh. They do have some more regular scents such as Violet, Jasmine and Peach. My two favourites are Paperback and Patchouli.

A trip to your favourite library or used bookstore. Sweet and lovely with just a touch of the musty smell of aged paper, The Library of Fragrance Paperback harnesses that scent with a sprinkling of violets and a dash of tasteful potpourri.

In a weird way, Paperback really does remind me of old books but is still completely wearable. It’s the sort of subtle scent which you can wear daily. I find that the scent lasts for hours and doesn’t need topping up during the day.

This is not your Grandma’s Patchouli.  The Library of Fragrance Patchouli is 100%, natural high grade, light essential oil.  No synthetics, or cheap unrefined materials here.  Indeed, our all natural patchouli oil costs 10 times the price of the average designer fragrance oil.  The result is an intoxicating, smooth, full, rich and slightly spicy scent. This fragrant herb, with egg-shaped leaves gives out its odour when rubbed. The whitish flowers are tinged with purple. The crop is cut two or three times a year, the leaves dried and packed in bales and exported for distillation of the oil. The best oil is freshly distilled near the plantations.

Many people can find the scent of patchouli to be overwhelming, however this isn’t at all. I have received a lot of compliments when wearing this. It’s the perfect autumnal scent!

Autumn Candles

I have such a massive collection of scented candles, it’s ridiculous how many I have! That doesn’t stop me from stocking up on more whenever I get the chance. My favourite type of candles are those with autumnal scents. At the moment I am loving the three wick candle from Bath and Body Works in Marshmallow Fireside and the wood wick candle from DW Home in the scent Brushed Suede. There’s nothing better than lighting a candle and sitting down with a good book in the evening.

Both of these brands are amazing quality and last ages. The Bath and Body Works scents always manage to fill the house, they have such a great hot throw! I am the type of person that would burn autumnal scents year round, which is why I always make sure I have plenty of candles!
