Is a lash primer really worth it?

Diorshow Maximizer 3D lash primer L'Oreal Paris Miss Baby Roll mascara

You wouldn’t be surprised to learn that mascara is part of my everyday makeup routine, but how about a lash primer? I’m sure I’m not the only one who struggles with their eyelashes. Mine are dead straight and really short. If I don’t have any mascara on, you can’t even see them. I think that this makes my eyes look smaller and therefore makes me look tired.

As a result, I’ve tried so many different mascaras that have promised to give me the best lashes ever. I’ve tried most of the brands in the drugstore and I’ve also had quite a few high end ones. Now, I think that I have finally found a combination that works for me. Who knew a lash primer would make so much difference?

Dior Diorshow Maximizer 3D Lash Primer

I haven’t actually tried much from Dior, despite them being a very popular high end brand. Last year I was gifted a sample of the Diorshow Maximizer 3D Lash Primer and didn’t really have high hopes for it. Can lash primers really make that much difference? Is it worth adding an extra step on to your daily makeup routine? Well, once I tried the primer I was well and truly converted. I loved it so much that I recently got the full size version from Notino and I’ve been using it every time I wear makeup.

The exclusive Dior backstage mascara serum-primer thoroughly plumps lashes.
A new-generation formula for immediately oversized lashes and daily conditioning.

As well as applying this as a lash primer, Dior also advise that you apply it to your lashes before bed as a conditioning treatment. I haven’t done this myself yet, but I think I might have to give it a go! I’ll do anything to make sure my lashes stay in good condition.

L’Oreal Paris Miss Baby Roll mascara

This mascara got a lot of hype online when it was first released last year. I have had a few tubes of this now and it’s definitely going to be a firm favourite for a while. Even though this is a drugstore product, it’s one of the best mascaras I have tried. L’Oreal Paris Miss Baby Roll promises to add volume and a curl to your lashes and it certainly doesn’t disappoint. I find that my eyelashes look great using this on its own, but with a primer it’s amazing.

My lash routine

  1. I always make sure that I curl my eyelashes as they need all the help that they can get. When it comes to eyelash curlers, I don’t use any specific ones. I find that the £1 one from Primark work just as well as some more expensive ones I’ve tried.
  2. I apply a couple of coats of the Diorshow Maximizer 3D Lash Primer waiting for each one to dry before I go in again.
  3. Once the lash primer has dried and my eyelashes are looking BIG (and white, which looks quite weird!) then I’ll apply my mascara of choice.

I definitely recommend trying out a lash primer if you haven’t already. I find that I can manage to make my lashes look almost as good as false lashes with this one. I’ll probably try to find another lash primer to test out once I’ve used this one up. Do you use a lash primer?

As a fellow short-lasher, I’ve always been curious whether primers work too! This sounds perfect!

I haven’t tried a primer before myself. Like the sound of the mascara you tried though. Might give them both a try.
