This weekend I travelled down to London with Rachel for London Fashion Week. We were struggling for somewhere to stay. Around LFW all of the hotels seem to put their prices up or are sold out! Luckily, I managed to get a room at Hendon Hall which is just twenty five minutes outside of Central London. The regional sales manager, Andreas gave me the guided tour.
The Location
Hendon Hall hotel is in north London, just a mile away from Hendon Central tube station. If you’re driving, it is just off Junction 2 of the M1. This is convenient for those of us that are travelling down from the North! Hendon Central is just a few stops on the Northern Line from Euston station which is where I would usually get the train into.
The history of Hendon Hall
Hendon Hall is such a beautiful building, full of history. Built in the 1700s and originally known as Hendon Manor, it features in the Doomsday book and was a home to the actor David Garrick. The building has since been modernised but still has a lot of the original features and a lot of character. One of my favourite parts of the hotel was a painting on the ceiling of one of the function rooms.
Standard Twin room
We stayed in a standard twin room which was just perfect for the one night. The beds were so comfy. I’m fussy with beds because of my bad back and I had no complaints. In fact, I didn’t want to get out of bed when my alarm went off at 7am! The room came with everything we needed! This included fluffy white towels, tea and coffee making facilities and a selection of toiletries. The hotel also offer a turn down service. There was no fussing around with the beds and the curtains when we arrived back at the hotel exhausted at 11pm.
There was plenty of room for the two of us to get ready in the morning without getting in each others’ way. Rachel also found a full length mirror on the inside of one of the wardrobe doors which was a bit of a bonus! The big window let in a lot of natural light which was a great help when we were getting ready.
As well as having the Handpicked Hotels toiletries in all of the bathrooms, the hotel also has it’s own wine. Raccolto a Mano is served in both the bar and the Garrick restaurant. We didn’t have time to try out the breakfast on Saturday morning as we had to leave early to get to a show. However, Andreas showed me the restaurant and told me how the honey comes in on a slate straight from the bees. How brilliant is that?
I really enjoyed my stay at Hendon Hall and I will definitely be considering it for my next trip down to London. The staff were all so helpful and friendly especially Paul who works on reception and also drives the minibus. The hotel also has a little claim to fame. The England football team stayed there the night before they won the world cup in 1966!
Please Note: This hotel is now permanently closed as of the end of 2018

Thanks for the tip. Looks like a great place to stay. If it’s good enough for the England team, it’s good enough for me!
Beautiful photos! It looks like a gorgeous hotel. I don’t live too far from Hendon, and this seems like a good option for friends and family from abroad to stay at.
Awesome claim to fame! My best friend and I are looking to plan a weekend away for our joint 30th bday celebrations, this looks like one to make the ‘considered’ list. (Especially the wine!!)
