A stay at the Titanic Hotel, Belfast is not something I would usually splash out on. If you know me, you’ll know that I always like to travel on a budget. When I go away on my own, I’ll stick to hostels or the occasional Premier Inn. I had a trip to Belfast planned to see The National since 2019 which kept getting postponed. The last time it was rescheduled, I decided I was going to treat myself to a nice hotel. I had a look on booking.com and found a great deal at the Titanic Hotel, Belfast.
Location
The Titanic Hotel is located in Belfast’s famous Titanic Quarter. Directly opposite the Titanic Experience, the hotel is in the former Harland & Wolff headquarters (where the Titanic was designed). You can also see the famous Harland & Wolff cranes, Samson and Goliath from parts of the hotel.
If you’re flying in to Belfast, the Titanic Hotel is just under 4 miles away from Belfast City Airport (BHD) and 16 miles away from Belfast International Airport (BFS). I flew into Belfast City and a taxi to the hotel cost me £11.50. I just used one of the cabs waiting outside at the airport. If I’d used an app (fonaCAB is great for Belfast) I would certainly have paid less.

The city centre is a 25 minute walk away, just over the River Lagan. It’s a nice walk along the water, but if you would prefer a taxi, it costs around £5. There is also a public transport option, with the Glider (G2 route) going from just around the corner every half hour or so. You’ll need to purchase your Glider tickets before you get onboard – there’s a ticket machine at the Titanic Quarter stop.

Superior King Room at Titanic Hotel, Belfast
I got a great deal on a superior king room, at just £267 for three nights. If you were to book at short notice, you would be looking at paying around £240 a night. When booking accommodation, I always use Booking.com as I find it easier to compare rates. I also get discounts through the Genius loyalty programme. I booked this particular stay over a year in advance, which is how I managed to get such a great rate. It also helped that I stayed Sunday to Wednesday – weekends are a lot more expensive.

From the window of my room, I could just about see the top of the Titanic Experience. The view didn’t matter though, when I had a room so spectacular. I was also very taken with the walk to my room – the corridors and communal areas were so impressive. As soon as I entered the hotel, I knew that it was spectacular, it was the perfect mix of modern and historic.

My Superior King room came with everything I needed for my three night stay, including toiletries, bottled water, slippers and a robe. I was pleased to see a bath in the bathroom and I treated myself to a long soak during my stay which was very much needed. The bed was one of the most comfortable I’ve ever stayed in. I had no problem falling asleep and found it quite difficult to get up in the morning! On the night that I arrived, there was a wedding party taking place. I could see the function room from my window, however there was no noise at all from the party and I got a fantastic night’s sleep.

All around the hotel there were nods to the history of the building and the bedroom was no exception. With to-scale models of the Titanic in the Presentation Room and bar, portholes inspired mirrors and blueprints of the ship in the bathrooms, you won’t be forgetting the history of the hotel. The attention to detail was spot on and perfect for a history nerd like myself.

Bar
On my final night in Belfast, I decided to stop off at the bar for a drink on my way back from a gig. I would never normally drink alone, especially when I’m away but I wanted to make the most of the facilities. Especially as the bar area was so fancy! I was also curious to try a local whisky after seeing the area in which the Bushmills brand is made on my Giant’s Causeway coach trip. I stopped off at the Drawing Room Two bar which I’d seen from above on my way to my room.

As I was unsure on which type I wanted to try, I asked the advice of the bartender. I ended up going for the 16 year old single malt with coke as a mixer. A single measure and a mixer (coke) came to £8.50. This is more than I would expect to pay at my local, but it was fine whilst on holiday. I think it was definitely worth it for the experience of drinking in the bar.
Restaurant
As I wanted to explore the city and find independent places to eat, I only visited the hotel restaurant once. I chose to pay for breakfast on my last morning, which was £13.95. Breakfast consists of both a hot and cold buffet, tea, coffee and fresh juices. Although I’m not really a big eater first thing in the morning, I definitely got my moneys worth. I was pleased to see that they had Irish potato cakes on offer, along with the usual cooked breakfast items. I wouldn’t have eaten breakfast at the hotel every day. On my final morning, it was a nice treat before getting a coach to Dublin.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Titanic Hotel, Belfast. lt was a real luxury to stay somewhere with so much history. I’m hoping to visit Belfast again in 2023 to do the Titanic Experience and will definitely be returning to this hotel.

I’m looking to travel here in the new year, this was really helpful!
This is such a cute hotel!
