When we visited Berlin in January, we had two nights stay at the abba Berlin gifted. We wanted to stay for an extra night though, so I got myself on Booking.com looking for another hotel. As we were only paying for one night and I wasn’t alone, I wasn’t too worried about the price. Usually I would go for budget options when staying more than one night and if I’m on my own, I’d usually go for a hostel. After narrowing it down to three hotels, I finally decided to go for the Art’Otel Berlin Kudamm.

Art’Otel Berlin Kudamm
The Art’Otel brand is one that I am familiar with as I stayed at the Art’Otel Köln back in 2016. They are known for their quirky decor and having art as the main focus. There are actually two Art’Otels in Berlin, one in the Mitte district and another in the Wilmersdorf district of the city which is the one we chose.
The Art’Otel Kudamm is a short walk away from the famous Berlin Zoo, Kaiser-Wilhelm Memorial Church and the Kurfürstendamm shopping district. If you are looking for somewhere close to the famous sights, then it is a great location. The hotel is dedicated to Andy Warhol, with original artwork of his on display. Each room has a different Andy Warhol themed decor.
When booking this hotel, I didn’t actually look into the locations, I just chose the one that had the best price. Luckily, it turned out that the Art’Otel Berlin Kudamm was next door to the abba Berlin.
Checking in
Check in was at 3pm, however as we were just next door, we took our bags over to the Art’Otel and left them in storage there in the morning. When we went back to check in, I paid off the price of the room which was €58.50 which worked out to be around £52.27. This was a room only rate. Breakfast was going to cost an extra £14. There were a lot of places in the area that had great breakfast options, so we decided not to add it onto our booking.

The room
We had booked a standard ‘Art Double’ room. However, when we arrived we realised that we had been given an accessible room. Accessible rooms are usually reserved for those with disabilities. They will have a few differences to standard rooms, however there is no problem staying in them if you are able bodied. If you do need an accessible room, you should contact the hotel when you book and request one.

Our room was on a corner, opposite a lift and had a lot more space than you would usually expect in a hotel room (to allow wheelchair access). We also had a wet room instead of a bath/shower which wasn’t a problem. I would have liked a bath to soak in after a long day of walking around Berlin, but it wasn’t a big deal. The wet room was really easy to use, we just had to make sure not to go in there in socks after the shower had been used.

The room had two bedside tables, a wardrobe, a desk, a smaller table and two chairs. The double bed was really comfortable, I had no problem falling asleep. I loved the quirky decor of the room, especially the lip-print carpet. The handles on the wardrobes were even in the shape of pop art bananas. Our massive windows looked out onto the street below, however they were soundproof so we didn’t hear any of the traffic unless we opened the windows. Another slight difference to the room was that the light switches were a bit lower down.

The hotel facilities
Our room was stocked with a number of different Elemis products. I love it when a hotel stocks a brand that is well known. I always feel like Elemis products add a touch of luxury to the stay. Next to the bed, we also had a pillow spray which is designed to help you fall asleep. Little touches like this, really make such a difference. I used it that night and I think it worked really well.

I was pleased to see that we also had tea and coffee making facilities along with a mini bar. These were very welcome. Being able to enjoy a tea or coffee in our own room was great. We both had a drink after we checked in and a bit of a rest before we went out again. This also came in handy in the morning as we had decided not to have breakfast in the hotel. So, we had a drink in bed before we got ready for the day.
I had a bit of a problem with my travel adapter not fitting in the wall sockets. I am not sure why this was. These adapters have been used in a lot of hotels without a problem before. Eventually, I got one of the sockets to accept my adapter. So, I charged my laptop on that and then switched over in the morning to my phone charger. It would have been a lot easier if I had been able to use both at once but this was just a minor inconvenience. The hotel’s free wifi however, was great. We were able to easily access the internet so we could check in for our flights the next day.
Getting to Art’Otel Berlin Kudamm
It’s really easy to get to and from Schönefeld airport from this hotel. From Schönefeld, you just need to jump on the S-Bahn (you need the S9 line) straight to Savignyplatz and it is a 10 minute walk to the hotel from there. There is also a U-Bahn station, Uhlandstraße just an 8 minute walk away from the hotel.
Next time I visit Berlin, I will definitely be heading back to the Art’Otel Kudamm. Have you been before?

This hotel looks awesome – and so unusual. Although I think I might get a bit creeped out if I woke up in the middle of the night to see a massive picture of Andy Warhol looking down at me lol

What a fantastic, quirky hotel. Not 100% sure about the photo as the headboard but it certainly makes an impact
I think i’d have preferred a bath too after walking around Berlin all day! I love the look of the room though, the decor is lush and its fab that they give you Elemis toiletries! xxx
