Trying something new with JD Williams

When the weather gets a bit warmer, I always struggle with what to wear. In the winter, I live in jeans or trousers with Dr Martens. I also have a pair of those ‘basic white girl Vans’ that everyone and their boyfriend has. Summer is all about ditching the dark colours and trying something new, so when I was asked if I wanted to try out some white shoes from JD Williams I picked out this pair of Adidas trainers.

Adidas VS Advantage CL trainers

I’ve never owned white trainers before. In fact, I’ve never really been a trainer person. Vans are the closest things I wear to trainers, so I was excited to finally own a pair. I’m a messy person – I managed to dirty my black Vans by walking into a swamp! So, I wouldn’t usually go for white anything, but I think that these don’t look too bad yet, even after a few wears. They’re so comfortable to wear and didn’t need much breaking in, I had to wear plasters for the first couple of wears as they rubbed against my heel but that’s it. I love how although the trainers are completely white, they have a light pink sole. I think this adds an extra little something to the shoes.

So far I’ve managed to wear the trainers all day without any problems.  I’ve been around London, I’ve been to an exhibition at the NEC and I’ve travelled in them. Usually, if I wear a pair of shoes for too long my feet start to ache (I’m looking at you, basic white girl Vans) and I have to switch to something else. However, I haven’t had that problem with these trainers, they’re so comfortable! I don’t know why I didn’t pick up a pair of proper trainers sooner!

The outfit

I paired the trainers with this vintage inspired dress from Collectif. Again, this dress is something I never would have gone for but I thought it was time to try something different. Collectif have a great range of vintage inspired dresses and other clothing. My friends Kariss and Haydy are big fans of the brand, but I’d never tried anything out myself. I wasn’t sure if the style would suit me.

I was pleasantly surprised at how flattering the dress actually is. It’s such a great cut and really shows off my waist. I wore it with the trainers for a more casual look here. I think it would also be a great piece to wear for a summer wedding with heels. I don’t have any weddings to go to this summer unfortunately. However, I will be getting this dress out for my friend’s wedding anniversary party.

Will you be trying anything new this summer?

These photos were taken by Haydy in her parents’ back garden and the dogs wanted to join in! I think the photo of me telling Chung to be quiet is hilarious!

I have the Adidas outlet shop near me and love my Adidas shoes I got, they have like a scale pattern like a dragon don’t think I’d get white but they look. But I do like a good pair of vans as well.
