While we’re in isolation I haven’t been wearing a lot of makeup. However, there are some days when I feel like I need a bit of normality. On these days, I put a bit of makeup on and wear something other than loungewear. This is usually when I know I’m going to be FaceTiming my friends and I don’t want to look like a potato. As I’m not actually leaving the house, I don’t go full glam. I only use a few products and I am really liking the results.
Skincare

Before I apply any makeup I obviously do my skincare routine. I have a few favourite products but one that I have started using a lot more recently is the La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo [+]. This is a great serum which I apply before moisturiser. It helps to keep my face spot free and it also works great on acne scarring. I have a few scars which are still visible if I wear a lighter foundation, so I’m using this to help get rid of them.

Base Makeup
For my base I have been using two new products. First of all, there’s the MAC Face and Body foundation. This is one that I have heard so much about for years, but I’ve never tried it until now. In fact, it’s the first MAC foundation I’ve ever tried. I love the lightweight, watery consistency. It’s so easy to blend and gives a sheer but glowing coverage.
Then for the concealer, I’ve been using a new one from Makeup Revolution. The Conceal & Fix Creamy Concealer is perfect for undereyes. No matter how much sleep I have or how much water I drink, I still have some dark circles. While I don’t need a lot of concearler on the rest of my face, I do need to cover the dark circles up. I love the coverage of this one, I find that a small amount goes a long way. I’ve been blending it in with a sponge and then setting it with powder and it lasts all day.

Eyes
When it comes to eyes, I’ve been skipping the fancy eyeshadow and eyeliner. If I do use anything, it will be something that I can just swipe over the lid like the Makeup Revolution Eye Glisten. I have then just been applying a mascara. I have really short, straight eyelashes. If I don’t wear mascara then you can’t even see them most of the time. So, I’ve been using the Essence Lash Princess mascara which has really been lifting my lashes and making them more voluminous. It’s not too dramatic, but still looks great.

I’ve also been using just a simple waterproof eyebrow pencil to fill in my brows. I haven’t been filling them in a lot, just making them look a bit darker. I love the Catrice brow pencil that I’ve been using. As it’s waterproof it lasts all day and it’s really easy to use as well.
I’m looking forward to being able to go outside and see other people – until then, I’m enjoying this simple, fresh makeup look!
