Seven affordable Christmas gifts that still feel premium

It’s that time of year again, with mince pies, mulled wine and the crazy scramble for presents.

But you don’t need to spend a small fortune to give something that feels special.

If you’re looking for gifts that look more premium than they cost, you’re in the right place.

Here’s a list of affordable Christmas gifts that will wow your loved ones without busting the budget.

  1. Skincare sets and pamper kits

Self-care sets can make their daily routine feel more indulgent. Think sheet masks, shower gels, bath salts or body lotions.

A small pamper kit can look deluxe when packaged well, making it a great option for friends, family or a Secret Santa.

  1. Artisan chocolates or gourmet treats

Forget cheap confectionery and go for artisan chocolates or gourmet sweets.

Look for UK independents that offer high-end boxes and elegant wrapping.

Even modestly priced boxes look luxurious and show you’ve put thought into choosing their treats.

  1. Scented candles

A beautifully scented candle can immediately lift a room, giving that cosy, designer-home vibe.

Many shops and online stores offer artisanal-style candles for affordable prices.

Choose one with elegant packaging and a sophisticated aroma so it feels like a special treat.

  1. Tech accessories

For those who love tech, a phone stand, phone case, wireless charger or earbuds could make their day.

Consider what they already have and pick tech you think would suit their lifestyle.

  1. Personalised items

Personalisation is a great way to turn a simple gift into something thoughtful and uniquely theirs.

It could be monogrammed towels, customised keyrings, engraved ornaments or bespoke mugs.

  1. Small leather goods

A well-made card holder, wallet or passport cover in faux or genuine leather can feel expensive without costing too much.

Quality materials and neat finishing go a long way to making a small accessory feel fancy.

  1. High-end watches

Luxury watches are an ideal gift for someone special. There are plenty of great value options, particularly if you opt for a pre-owned model.

Choose a design that suits them, whether it’s an elegant metal bracelet that matches their jewellery or a rubber strap to suit their active lifestyle.

How to make an affordable gift look premium

Spending a bit of time on presentation can dramatically elevate even the simplest gift. Here are some wrapping tips:

  • Choose high-quality wrap or get creative with fabric or brown paper. Thicker wraps avoid those poking corners and help the gift feel more luxurious.
  • Add finishing touches like a handwritten note, sprig of seasonal greenery or a ribbon.
  • Pick a colour palette of two or three coordinating colours to help make your wrapping look curated and put-together.

The best gifts aren’t about splashing the cash, but picking something that feels intentional.

Whatever you choose, wrap it beautifully, pop in a heartfelt note and you’ll have a present that feels quite the opposite of “budget.”

Because really, it’s thought that counts, not the price tag.

Merry gifting!

On Saturday I went down to London for a much neede On Saturday I went down to London for a much needed break. My plan was to eat a lot of good food and visit a few museums before heading to the Royal Albert Hall to see my favourite band @garbage with @placeboworld and forget about all my stresses for a day.

However, once I found out about the @togetheralliance march against the far right, I scrapped my plans (apart from the gig, I still went to that) and headed to Park Lane to join my first ever protest.

I think it’s so important to use your voice, fight for what you believe in and do your best to make a difference.

There’s so much shit going on in the world and people need to stop burying their heads in the sand. I’m sick of hearing people saying things like “I don’t do politics” or “what’s the point of voting?” but also moaning about things like the NHS, the cost of living, tax, education, worker’s rights etc. If you want to have a say, you need to get involved, go out and vote in your local elections on May 7th.

Make more noise and make hope normal again.

My first protest - Together Alliance March Against My first protest - Together Alliance March Against the Far Right on Saturday 28th March.

What a wonderful, uplifting day - half a million people from different cultures and backgrounds across the UK came together for one important cause.

I had a day of visiting museums planned, but when I realised this march was taking place, my plans changed. I think it’s so important to stand up for what you believe in and use your voice.

It’s time to make hope normal again.

The final stop on my trip last April was Vienna. A The final stop on my trip last April was Vienna. Austria was another new country to me and I’d wanted to visit the capital for years.

I got a bus from Vaduz back into Switzerland and started my 7 hour train journey from Buchs SG to Vienna. The journey went so quickly, even with a small delay and the views from the train were stunning. We went from Switzerland, into Liechenstein, over to Austria, into Germany and then back into Austria.

Unfortunately, I really didn’t enjoy Vienna. The architecture was stunning, so were the parks but it was just so busy and I found the locals to be really rude and unwelcoming.

Despite this, I found lots to do, starting with a free walking tour so I could get my bearings and learn about some of the history of the city. This is one thing I’ll always do when I’m in a new place. I also visited two cafes that had cats, browsed a flea market, stumbled across an Easter market where I got a lángos, visited the Imperial Crypt, sat in Volksgarten for a couple of hours with my kindle and did a lot of walking.

I stayed in a very futuristic looking pod, which cost me £40 a night. I was a bit dubious but it was really roomy and comfortable plus it offered me a bit more privacy for my last two nights after I’d shared rooms for the rest of my trip.

I’m in no rush to go back to Vienna, but I would give it another go. I’d like to try different parts of Austria at some point but I think I’ll give it a while!

The third stop of my trip last April was Vaduz, Li The third stop of my trip last April was Vaduz, Liechtenstein 🇱🇮

I’d always been curious about this tiny country nestled between Switzerland and Austria, so I decided to spend a night there after Zermatt. I caught the train from Zermatt to Sargans, changing at Visp and Zurich before getting a bus over the border to Vaduz. The journey took just over 5 hours and cost me around £40.

Vaduz which is the capital of Liechenstein is absolutely tiny and you can easily see everything in a day. Whilst I was there, I walked back over to Switzerland via the Alte Rheinbrücke, trekked up to Vaduz Castle where the Prince of Liechtenstein resides and had a look around the cathedral.

Vaduz is another place that I’ve fallen in love with and can’t stop thinking about. Everything about it was beautiful. Wherever I turned, there was stunning scenery and architecture, the people were so kind and friendly and I felt so at peace there. I stayed at the Schaan Vaduz Youth Hostel which cost me £46 for one night and it was so quiet that they upgraded me to a smaller dorm with only one other person in it.

Food and drink was very expensive (£14 for an iced coffee and a cream cheese bagel), so I skipped eating out and opted for the supermarket instead.

I’d definitely recommend a trip to Vaduz if you’re nearby and I’d love to go back!
