With it being festival season, chances are you have a weekend camping planned and are going to be getting some sun exposure. I’ve put together a list of products that I deem to be festival essentials. I’m all about having fun and getting made up but it is also important to protect yourself from the sun.
Sun protection
Getting the important bit out of the way first – you can’t pack for a festival without packing any sun protection. We don’t always get a lot of sun in the UK. But, even when it’s only slightly warm, the sun could be doing damage. It is so important that you use some form of SPF all over any parts of your body that will be exposed to the sun. I have made the silly mistake of going without sun cream at a festival and then getting burnt. Even if there are clouds in the sky, you need to take a few minutes to make sure you are protected.
I highly recommend the Hawaiian Tropic Satin Protection lotion. This is SPF 30, I would usually go for SPF 50 as I am very pale and ginger.
Don’t forget your hair either. The sun can do a lot of damage to your hair, especially if it is bleached or coloured. The TIGI Bed Head Beach Bound spray will help to protect coloured hair.
Another boring essential is deodorant. The last thing you want in a field with hundreds of thousands of people is to stink. Pick something that is going to last all day and keep you smelling fresh like Schmidt’s Rose + Vanilla.
Makeup
No matter what the festival, there’s always one standard theme – GLITTER. If you are wanting to get yourself glittered up for the occasion, then there are plenty of options from Notino.
To start yourself off, you need to get yourself a decent glitter primer to ensure that the glitter stays around all day. The NYX Glitter Goals glitter primer will help to keep the glitter in place all day and gives a great base for application. If you are looking for a good glitter, then stick with the NYX Glitter Goals range. If you are after a whole palette, then the Makeup Revolution Pressed Glitter Palette has plenty of options for you.
You’re going to want to keep your makeup in place all day, so a decent setting spray is essential. The Glam Glow Glowsetter will do the job well.
Have you got any festivals planned this year? I am planning to go to both Splendour Festival and Moseley Folk festival. What are your festival essentials?
