Two nights at Queens Hotel, Leeds

When planning a weekend away in the UK, Leeds might not be somewhere you immediately think of. If you fancy a break in a city full of great food and friendly northern people, then it’s worth considering. I recently stayed at the Queens Hotel, Leeds when I took a trip up there at the beginning of July with Haydy. We travelled up on the train which was only two hours from St Pancras.

Queens Hotel, Leeds

We were provided with a two night stay in an superior twin room courtesy of LateRooms.

As well as being super close to the train station, Queens Hotel (which is a part of the Q Hotels group) is located right next to Trinity, the biggest shopping centre in Leeds. This meant that we could roll out of bed and be in shops five minutes later! That’s a big win in my eyes.

The room

Our room was on the third floor, at the front of the hotel. We had a great view of City Square which came in handy on the Sunday when the Leeds 10k Run For All was going past. The decor of the room was a bit dated, but it was clean. We had everything we needed in the room including an iron, a hairdryer, tea and coffee making facilities and a safe.

The weekend we were up in Leeds was the start of the heatwave, so we were relieved to find that our room had air conditioning. We had it on constantly, even while we slept. We figured that it was better to be a bit chilly rather than hot and sweaty! The air con meant that we both managed to have a great night’s sleep.

The bathroom was fantastic, with a selection of toiletries for us to use, a bath and a shower. I was especially pleased to see the bath as I can’t use the one in my flat, so I bought myself a bath bomb and took full advantage of it. I was also really impressed with the wifi in the room. Usually, I find that hotel wifi can be a bit temperamental, especially if it is free. Luckily, the wifi at Queens Hotel was fast and reliable. I managed to catch up on Eastenders while I had a soak in the bath after a long day.

Breakfast

Breakfast was served downstairs and included a hot buffet. We made sure we took full advantage of this both mornings. I especially loved the breakfast potatoes, bacon and scrambled eggs. That’s my favourite kind of breakfast. There was also a selection of pastries, cereals and fruits. We were provided with a pot of coffee and decaf tea and we were able to help ourselves to any other drinks we fancied. There were also other items you could order for an extra price, but we really didn’t need to be having steak for breakfast when there was such a great selection of food already available!

Checking Out

Check out was at 11am on the Sunday morning, however our train back to London was booked for 7:30pm, so we were allowed to keep our luggage in storage until we needed it. The staff at reception were very polite and helpful, I couldn’t fault them at all. I would definitely choose to stay at Queens Hotel, Leeds again if I’m ever looking for somewhere to stay in the area.

Leeds is by far one of my favourite cities – I lived there for a couple of years in my mid twenties and was sure it was where I would settle one day. I love the shops and the buzz of the city.

I lived near Leeds when I was small and would go shopping with my Gran on a Saturday. I was amazed last time we visited at how much had changed, it’s gorgeous now! Not used LateRooms, must change that! 🙂

What a lovely looking hotel to get to go and stay in, sounds like it is really well placed. I have to admit it has been years since I last went to Leeds, but I remember there being quite a lot to do and see.

I’ve never really thought about visiting Leeds before but I never knew it was only 2 hours from London.

I am always for a hotel room that has a bath, even though I have one at home, there is something much more relaxing about using a bath in a hotel x
