As the weather is getting a bit warmer, I’ve been wearing more dresses and shorts. When I’m getting my legs out, I like to add a bit of colour to them with some fake tan. Over the years I’ve tried many different ones, from the cheapest of the cheap to the high end brands. I’ve found that it doesn’t really matter which fake tan you use if your skin isn’t properly prepared for it.
Bath time prep

I always prep my skin in the bath, I love a long soak with a bath bomb. I find it really relaxing to chill out with some fancy scented bath water. This time around, I used one from Revolution which was candy floss scented and shaped like a bear. The scent filled the room and it was lovely!
I always make sure I shave before applying any sort of fake tan, I’m not fussy with my razors so I usually just get the cheapest. It’s important to have smooth skin before you tan, as you don’t want it to look patchy an uneven. This is why exfoliating is such an important step. I don’t exfoliate my body very often, it’s more like once a week but I really feel a difference when I do. When I choose a body scrub, I like to go for one from an organic skincare brand. Recently, I’ve been using the Organic Shop Cinnamon & Honey scrub. This has a really lovely delicate fragrance and has just the right amount of scrubbiness without being too harsh. I really enjoy using this scrub and my skin always feels so smooth afterwards!
Post bath prep

Once I get out of the bath, I make sure that my skin is completely dry before I use any sort of moisturiser. I have been loving using Bio Oil recently on my scars and stretch marks. It’s great to keep the area moisturised and also helps to fade and sort of scars or blemishes over time. I find that it sinks in to my skin quite quickly and it also doesn’t really have a scent. I like the way my skin feels so soft after applying it.
The fake tan
As I said, I’ve tried so many different tans over the years. The one that I have been loving at the moment is the St Tropez Gradual Tan Watermelon Infusion. As a gradual tan, it’s also moisturising and is buildable. I like to apply this before bed time and then I wake up to a beautiful, even colour. If I want a deeper colour, then I’ll just apply again in the morning.
