Over the last few years, I’ve been making more of an effort to use natural beauty products. I have found that they are particularly good for my hair and my skin. There are a few products that are firm favourites, but I’m still trialling new ones all the time.

Castor oil
Remember that trend back in the late 90s/early 2000s where everyone had to have really thin brows? I was one of those lucky people who didn’t need to do much to their brows. I had really fair, thin brows already. The most I had to do was tidy them up a little bit.
Unfortunately, having barely there brows is no longer a trend and everyone is about the bushy, natural brow. Since around 2009, I’ve been filling my brows in hoping to make them look fuller. I also make sure I get them either threaded or waxed by a professional, so there’s no chance that I will mess them up and take off too much! Every 8 weeks or so, I tint my brows to make them appear fuller and I’ve found that really helps.
Recently, I found out about castor oil and how it can encourage the growth of eyebrow hairs and your eyelashes. I got a bottle of Soaphoria Organic Castor Oil. I’ve been applying this every evening to my eyebrows and my eyelashes. So far I’ve noticed that my eyelashes appear to be fuller, however it’s still early days for the brows.

Natural deodorant
I’ve been a fan of natural deodorant since last year. I realised that the deodorant that I was using was causing me some discomfort. During the day I would notice that my skin was really itchy and I put it down to the chemicals and aluminium in my deodorant. The switch to natural deodorant wasn’t easy. It takes time for your body to get used to the natural ingredients when you’ve been covering your skin with the chemicals that are usually in an anti-perspirant. Luckily for me, this transition took place during the first lockdown so I wasn’t going out a lot. Nobody was around to notice I was a bit more smelly than normal!
Once my body got used to the natural deodorant, I knew that I would never go back to the regular ones. I don’t sweat excessively under my arms but after exercise and during the warmer months I want to ensure I smell and feel clean. I have been using the Schmidt’s deodorant sticks since late last year. My current favourite scent is the Pineapple Coconut which is very subtle, yet reminds me of the summer. My previous one lasted a good three months with every day use.
