Father’s Day is just over six weeks away and I have to start thinking about it this early as my dad is so hard to buy for. If he wants anything, he will usually buy it himself or he won’t tell us what he wants because he doesn’t want us to spend our money on him, which is nice but so frustrating! Instead of buying him yet another bottle of Glenmorangie which is going to sit in the garage unopened, I’ve been looking into unusual gift ideas that I wouldn’t usually think of and wouldn’t be something that he would ask for.

Amongst the things that my dad likes are rugby league, football, cars and beer, so I’ve been looking into gifts that involve these factors and perhaps something that my brother and I could pay for as a gift from the both of us.

Out of those four things, rugby league is my dad’s favourite and the team that he supports is St Helens, he grew up there and has supported them ever since he can remember. He doesn’t often get to go and see them play, so I thought that buying him tickets to a game would make a great present. We could also get him a ticket to see his favourite football team, Liverpool play. We wouldn’t have to go too far if we wait for a match where they are playing one of our local teams. My brother would also be able to go along and they could spend some quality time together as they are both into football and support Liverpool.

As I mentioned, my dad is really into cars and is always watching things like Top Gear. He loves his car and he uses it everyday for work so I thought that maybe we could get him something associated with it and what’s better than personalised car registrations? I think this would be a great idea as it’s something that he could keep forever (my dad likes to get a new car every three years) and it would be something really personal.

On the subject of beer, a day out at a brewery with beer tasting involved sounds like something that would be right up my dad’s street! Red Letter Days offer a number of different beer related packages and having worked with them recently (I went indoor skydiving – a post will be up soon!), I really recommend them.

I never know what to buy anyone to be honest, I have to leave it to Rachel to decide.

I think it’s a great idea to think about the things your Dad enjoys doing and get him a gift in some way associated with those. The tickets to see his favourite rugby or football team would most likely be a big winner!

Great to come up with ideas that really suit his personality and tastes. I’d be tempted with the beer tour myself, never mind my dad.

I feel the pain of not knowing what to get for my dad for birthdays/Christmas/ Father’s Day and so on. I really love the fact you’ve thought outside the box and put so much time and effort into thinking of gifts that are brilliant and unique for your Dad’s personality 🙂

My dad isn’t to hard to buy for thankfully he like loads of different things which works well as it means I’m not limited when looking for ideas. I think mine would skip the beer tour and just go for the beer lol.

Dads can be so difficult to buy for! Great ideas, especially like the day out at a brewery as a gift 🙂

I like where your heads at as far as possible gift ideas for your dad! My dad loves cigars, so I’m going to try and bring him back a few good ones from my trip in Mexico.

I love, love, love my Dad .. so Father’s Day is really special for me. Every year I buy him a few cigars and a home brew mix (or two). We love playing pool at their house and drinking homemade brew!

I love all of your ideas for Father’s Day. In our family we do tend to arrange activities for each other, rather than material presents, and they always go down really well xx

Event/experiences make wonderful gifts. I’m hoping to get a carving day for my partner from our little boy.

I think all dads are hard to buy for, not just yours lol! I think I’m going to get my dad a board game or something, so that we can all spent a bit more time together as a family. I know he’d appreciate that x
