Merry Hill, near Dudley is one of my favourite places to shop in the West Midlands. I don’t go very often as I can’t drive so it takes me just over two hours door to door to get over there on public transport. However, I always try to make it over when they’re having on of their fashion weekends. Last week, they put on their Spring Fashion Weekend where they had catwalk shows, discounts, vouchers and activities going on in the centre. I was invited along so I got my two trains and bus over, collected the voucher I was kindly gifted and had myself a bit of a shopping spree.
One definite trend for this seasons is pastels – they’re everywhere from pastel accents on shirts, to pastel accessories and bags. I loved this triangle print shirt from River Island, I think it would look great with some skinny jeans. I also really liked the small bags in River Island – I’m usually one of those people who carries round their whole life, however recently I’ve been leaning towards smaller bags and just carrying the essentials. I can’t choose which of these colours I like the most. the yellow is great for the summer but the pastel lilac and mint green are so on trend right now.
One of my favourite things about Merry Hill is that their Debenhams has a MAC concession. I much prefer buying my cosmetics from Debenhams because of the Beauty Club card, so I spent a while browsing the eyeshadows and lipsticks. I didn’t buy anything this time as I’d been a couple of weeks before and picked up the Toledo lipstick in Barbecue.
I had a quick pit-stop at Starbucks where I indulged in a bacon sandwich and an iced Maple Macchiato (my new favourite) while I had a look at the vouchers in the booklet I was given before I carried on with my shopping.
Another trend I noticed is white shoes – they had them EVERYWHERE but my favourites were these from New Look. There are also a lot of slogan tshirts around for this season, I loved this cheeky ‘No boyfriend, no problem’ one from Primark! Eventually, after walking around the shopping centre for a good three hours, I purchased a few things and made my way back home. Here’s what I got..
I spent my gift card and a lot of my own money in three shops – Boots, New Look and River Island. In New Look, I decided to pick up a new pair of high waisted skinny jeans. I went for these as they’re my favourite style and I only have a black pair – I thought a lighter denim would be far better for the Spring. I also jumped on the white shoe bandwagon and got a pair of white converse style pumps which I’ll be taking away to Paris with me next week.
In River Island I went for a selection of gold jewellery. Gold is everywhere at the moment and I think I can pull it off well so I chose a couple of gold rings – one is a replica French coin and the other is a peace sign on a midi ring. I also found this gorgeous pair of eye earrings. All three of these came to just £5 which I was so impressed with! River Island’s jewellery is so cheap but they have some lovely stuff.
I majorly splurged in Boots! There’s 3 for 2 on the makeup again at the moment so I finally bought the L’oreal Infallible 24h Matte foundation that everyone has been raving about, a new eyeliner (the L’Oreal Superliner Perfect Slim) and one of the new Max Factor Creme Puff blushers that I’d wanted to try for ages. I couldn’t choose which colour blusher to get but in the end I went for Seductive Pink as it’s a lovely rosy pink and perfect for the Spring. I also got another Maybelline Colour Drama Lip Pencil as I’m in love with them and I got a couple of hair dyes so I can make sure my hair is perfect for my trip to Paris!
I decided to film a video when I was getting ready for work one morning and I tried out my new products for the first time. I’m so impressed with all of them – especially the foundation and the eyeliner, both of them last ALL DAY.
I hope you like the video, please be kind – I’m still really nervous about making them!
