My birthday plansAs I’ve mentioned probably a billion times before, I’m going to Florida in October for two weeks. We are booked into a lovely looking hotel on the Disney World resort called Old Key West and the day after we arrive which will be our first full day just so happens to be my 27th birthday! Of course, I want to do something special to celebrate as my last birthday was pretty rubbish so I asked Amy to help me plan as I’ve never been to Disney World before and she’s a bit of an expert.

We’ve got a Disney Dining Plan which means that most of our meals are included in the price that we’ve paid for our package, so we have been able to book character dining at no extra cost which is exciting! The one thing that I knew I wanted to do whilst in Florida was meet Winnie The Pooh, that has been my dream since I was really young and so far I’ve only seen him in parades at Disneyland Paris. So, knowing this, Amy booked us into Crystal Palace for breakfast on my birthday – this means we will be dining with Winnie The Pooh and friends! As well as meeting my idol, it’s an all you can eat breakfast buffet which will be perfect to fill up on and give us energy for our first day in the parks.

We had to book our Fast Passes last week and we decided that we would be spending my birthday in Magic Kingdom. I had no idea what to book as my three Fast Passes, so I had a look at the Touring Plans website and settled on The Many Adventures of Winnie The Pooh, Splash Mountain and Space Mountain. We’ve all got different Fast Passes so I think I will be doing these three on my own but I don’t mind at all. I love Space Mountain at Disneyland Paris but I’ve been told that the one in Disney World isn’t as good – I’ll just have to wait and see I suppose!

For dinner, we’ve got another special meal planned – we will be dining in the grand ballroom at Be Our Guest. Beauty and the Beast is my favourite Disney film so it was an obvious choice I think! I’m looking forward to trying ‘the grey stuff’ (I’ve heard it’s delicious) and just taking in the atmosphere.

I think my birthday is going to be pretty magical, what do you think? If you’re looking into booking a Disney holiday but are having problems choosing which park to go to, My Voucher Codes have created the below infographic to help you make your decision.

When you and your friends think of going on holiday, what (or where) initially springs to mind? It’s likely to be somewhere far away and exotic, complete with picturesque scenery and sandy beaches. But what if I told you that you can get all of that right here on your doorstep? Yep, in the UK! If you’re planning a mates holiday this year, here are 6 reasons you should consider the UK.

Following on from my post about the Essence Blogger’s Beauty Secret’s party, I thought I would tell you all about the hotel where the event was held and where we spent our first night in Cologne.

Art’Otel is located in the famous Rheinauhafen right on the banks of the River Rhine, opposite the Schokoladenmuseum (Chocolate museum) and just 1.5km away from the Kölner Dom (cathedral). Rachel and I were lucky enough to have a room with spectacular views of the river. We were able to open the window all the way and watch the boats going past. There was also a bridge just to the right as you looked out of our window which is used by the Köln trams and pedestrians.

Our room was fantastic – it was so luxurious, a lot different to the hotels that I have stayed in before. Everything from the walls, to the bed and furniture was white with some fantastic colourful artwork on the walls (which is obviously what the name Art’Otel is all about!) there was also a fantastic stained glass window which acted as a wall between the bathroom and the sleeping area. Although this was glass, you couldn’t see through it which was a bit of a relief as there were two of us sharing the room and I don’t think Rach wanted to see me showering.

The shower was phenomenal – it had the biggest shower head I’ve ever seen and after having no sleep the night before and then a quick nap, a refreshing shower was just what I needed before the party started. The bathroom was stocked with all of the essentials from Elemis which was a great touch – it’s always nice when hotels use toiletries from brands that you’re familiar with.

The hotel’s outdoor terrace was a great place to eat our evening meal and sip on our colourful mocktails, it was so really nice to relax and to watch the boats go by. The terrace was next to Art’Otel’s onsite Pan-Asian restaurant which is called Chino Latino which seats 96 people and serves a variety of Asian cuisine including sushi, sashimi and dim sum. Chico Latino has previously been awarded the title of best Asian restaurant in Cologne. Breakfast is served in the restaurant each morning and there’s plenty of choice with a hot and cold buffet. There’s every kind of breakfast food that you could want from fresh fruit, to crispy bacon – it’s definitely worth trying the German sausages!

I would highly recommend Art’Otel if you are looking to stay in Cologne, they have hotels in Budapest and Amsterdam as well as other German cities, so I will definitely be looking into them when I next plan a European break.
