Although I live so close to Birmingham, the last train home is at 23:15 which means that when I go to a gig I often have to miss the last couple of songs to ensure I make it back to New Street Station on time. Once I get back it can cost me up to £15 for a taxi back to my house, so I was really pleased to hear that Birmingham was getting its own Easy Hotel with rooms starting from just £23.99. When I found out, I decided to book myself a room for when I was going to see Band of Horses at the O2 Institute – it was only going to cost me an extra £9 and it meant that I could stay for the full set and then be in bed with a Starbucks within 20 minutes of leaving the venue. Last week I was invited by the Chamäleon Theatre on a press trip to the German capital of Berlin. As you can imagine, when I received the email I was very excited! I’d been to Germany twice before in 2016 and I had visited Dusseldorf and Cologne both times, so I was keen to explore a different German city. The purpose of the visit was to see the new show, Scotch & Soda which had just opened at the Chamäleon the week before we went over. Described as “a whisky-soaked evening of raucous circus, dance and music”, Scotch & Soda is like nothing else I have ever seen at the theatre before.
Over the last few years, I’ve managed to travel quite a lot. This past weekend I spent a whirlwind 24 hours in Berlin (posts coming soon!), however I don’t have any more plans for 2017 yet. You may remember that I won flights to Barcelona at an event last year, so I’m thinking of making the most of them and travelling around mainland Spain, which is somewhere I’ve never actually been before. I have previously been to Majorca twice but I’ve always wanted to visit the mainland. View Post
