I’m sure we all have that one scent that takes us back to our childhood. For me, it’s definitely Yves Saint Laurent Paris EDT. Growing up, this was the one perfume that my mom always used to wear. Whether it was for a Christening, birthday party, or wedding – she wore it to every special occasion. It’s not a perfume that you hear much about, especially on blogs. I decided to treat my mom to a new bottle this year for Mother’s Day. Buying someone their favourite perfume is usually a fail safe present. You can always guarantee that they will be happy with it.

Yves Saint Laurent Paris EDT

The origin of the fragrance

Paris was first released in 1983 and was, of course named after the French capital. With a name like ‘Paris’ you would expect the perfume to be classy and sophisticated – which it definitely is. This is a very floral perfume, however it’s not too overpowering or sweet. The inclusion of musk and sandalwood gives it a bit more of a sensual vibe. It’s definitely more of an evening scent or one to wear for special occasions rather than an everyday perfume. I find that the rose notes are very obvious at first but as the day goes on, you get a more powdery scent.

Top notes:
Cassia, Hawthorn, Hyacinth, Bergamot, Geranium, Orange Blossom

Heart notes:
Rose, Lime Blossom, Ylang Ylang, Violet, Lily, Orris, Jasmine

Base notes:
Oakmoss, Heliotrope, Cedar, Iris, Sandalwood, Amber, Musk

Overview

To me, Paris is such a classic scent. You only need to apply a small amount, yet it lasts the whole day. It’s the kind of scent that people feel the need to compliment. Although the bottle design hasn’t changed since 1983, it’s in no way dated. The cute round bottle looks great on any dressing table, even when it’s empty! If you’re one of those people who collects pretty perfume bottles, you’ll be interested in this. This is a scent that you won’t easily get bored of. It has so many different layers and is the perfect evening fragrance.

If you’re looking for a fragrance for a special lady in your life, definitely consider Yves Saint Laurent Paris EDT. Everyone I know who has tried this has enjoyed it. At only £65.44 for a 75ml bottle from Notino, it’s a great value present.

I love classic scents like that, you know they’ve passed the test of time so must be seriously good. Lovely to have the memories linked to it too.

I really remember this from my youth too! I haven’t bought perfume for myself in ages, I might have to go and give this one a try as I want to remember what it smells like too.
