Brightly coloured hair is a big trend in the UK at the moment, everywhere you go you see someone with an unnatural hair colour and I personally love it. I had bright red hair from when I was 16 until I was around 24 and I always loved it. I dyed it darker a couple of times but never felt like myself, so I soon went back to red. I’ve had my hair a bright ginger/orange colour for a couple of years now. I have had a few weeks where I’ve been darker due to a hairdresser dying my hair the wrong colour (and it was for a review, so I didn’t feel like I could complain as I hadn’t paid for it!) and I had to correct it myself by doing a bleach bath and then dying over it which is really not ideal.

Many of my lovely blogger friends have brightly coloured hair. Haydy has a couple of shades of blue in hers with dark on top and light underneath. Kariss is bright orange all over with a blonde streak at the front. Milly is bright pink all over.

I usually dye my hair with a permanent colour from L’Oreal. As my hair already has red tones in it (I’m naturally ginger) I find it easy enough to maintain my colour. When I start to get roots, they’re not that noticeable and once a week I top up the intensity of the colour by mixing a Bleach London temporary dye into my conditioner and leaving it on my hair for 10 minutes.

If you’re not keen on bleaching and dying your hair, there are ways around it. You can use extensions to add a bit of colour to the tips or underneath layer of your hair which is great for a temporary change without damaging your hair. You can also look into wigs which cover the whole head and mean that you can try a different hairstyle as well as a different colour.

I would love to experiment with different colours in my hair but I think that red/orange tones suit me best and I know how much of a faff it is to get rid of blues and greens. I have a Pinterest board that’s dedicated to hair and if you have a look, you will see that most of the pins are for bright, bold colours. I would love to try out bright yellow hair as it’s my favourite colour and you don’t often see it on hair, but I really don’t think that would suit me. What do you think?

I love your hair colour, it’s a shade I’ve always wanted to try myself but my natural colour is way too dark. Using a brightly coloured wig is a great idea though! x

I absolutely love this trend, just not on me. I did have orange hair for a while in my teens though.

I love your hair colour! I’ve been a few different colours over the years but the most ‘out there’ I got was deep red or blonde with purple bits. I’d absolutely love to have the courage to dye my hair purple all over or another bright and bold colour! x
