Beauty: Stila Glitter Underground collection

I was recently invited to Harvey Nichols in Birmingham to meet with a couple of the ladies from Stila (one of which had flown in from LA for the launch!) and get an introduction to their new Spring Summer 17 collection. I haven’t tried a lot of Stila products before (I own a lipgloss, a blusher and previously had an eyeliner) so I was really excited to be able to learn more about the brand and try out some of the new collection which, as you can tell by the name of the collection, is all about the glitter!

I’ve heard so much about Stila eyeshadows over the years, however I’d never actually tried any. I came close to buying a palette in TK Maxx last year but the awful queue and customer service in there put me off. I’m regretting not waiting around now after swatching the Matte ‘n’ Metal eyeshadow palette. As the name suggests, this palette contains a combination of both matte and metallic shades (six of each to be exact) in a selection of neutral colours. The pigmentation of these shadows are amazing, they’re buttery soft and really easy to blend. I was absolutely blown away by the metallic shades, especially the middle one on the bottom row which is called Sizzle. These can be used wet or dry and the mixture of matte and metallic shades means that it’s suitable for both everyday and evening looks.

I think the star of the show here (and the product that has been talked about so much on YouTube) is the Magnificent Metals Glitter & Glow Liquid Eyeshadow which come in eight spectacular shades. As these are a liquid eyeshadow, they are so easy to apply and they dry down in around 30 seconds. The consistency is not chunky at all which is what you would usually expect from a product that is so packed full of glitter. I was kindly gifted the shade Bronze Bell which is the perfect colour to go with the warm toned neutrals that I’ve been wearing on my eyes recently. I’ve found that the glitter sticks around all day and doesn’t come off unless I end up rubbing or scratching my eyes. These are all out of stock on the Stila website, although there are some colours still available at ASOS.

Stila have also released three new Heaven’s Hue Highlighters in the shades Kitten, Transcendence and Bronze. These have a weird consistency which I’ve never experienced in a highlighter before, they’re an almost gel like cream and give a sheer wash of colour which is completely buildable. I was gifted the shade Kitten and I’ve been wearing this on the top of my cheekbones as part of my daily makeup routine and it gives a lovely subtle glow. My favourite from the three highlighters is Transcendence which has an opalescent pink finish.

The final products in the collection are five new shades of the Stay All Day liquid lipstick ranging from a deep berry red to an orangey based nude and two Glitterati lip top coats. The idea of the top coats is that you can take your look from day to night by adding a glitter finish over your matte lip colour. My favourite lip colour from this collection was Perla which is the pink shade which I swatched above (please ignore the kitten scratches on my hand!) and tried out on my lips. It was really creamy and comfortable, definitely not as drying as a lot of other liquid lipsticks that I’ve tried from other brands.

I’m not sure if this collection is limited edition or if it will be sticking around as part of the permanent range, but I definitely want to get my hands on the highlighter in Transcendence and a couple of the liquid lipsticks. Have you tried anything by Stila? What’s your favourite product?
