Let’s face it; most people wish they could get more out of life. Having said that, the vast majority are happy to settle for what they have. Settling is comfortable. Settling is easy. Settling doesn’t come with any risks.

But then settling doesn’t satisfy that human urge to do more.

Striving for more is a key trait for any successful person, and this can manifest in many ways. With the right plan of action, there’s nothing to stop you achieving progress to create a brighter future for yourself. Here’s all you need to know.

Focus On Bitesize Achievements

“Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you’ll land amongst the stars.” I don’t know who coined that phrase, but it is utter nonsense.

Before taking on any challenge in life, you need to know that your goals are realistic. Otherwise, you will inevitably abandon the task altogether. Want to quit cigarettes? Focus on one day at a time or use Stoptober to use a month as your target. Dream of running a marathon? Start with the Couch to 5km program first.

Seriously, baby steps will serve you far better than attempting to fast-track your way to the end goals.

Aim For Inwardly Improvements

We’d all love to change the world for the better. Unfortunately, the harsh reality is that a lot of people don’t even want to be helped. You do. So focus on that.

You cannot control external factors, but you can make yourself a better person. Whether it’s learning a new language or developing an improved sense of financial control doesn’t matter. When you focus on the issues which you have control over, the results will come far sooner. Besides, this will often spark improvements from those around you too.

Prioritise What You Want To Change

It’s quite likely that you’ll have a long list of things that you’d like to change about your life. While this will all come in good time, you don’t want to overload yourself with new things at once. Therefore, focusing on the most significant changes are essential.

Your health and career are more important than hobbies and luxuries. If the dream job isn’t out there, why not search for apprenticeships near me? It’s a starting point that can lead to something far better. Moreover, knowing where you stand in those crucial aspects of life enables you to build further changes around a stable schedule.

With priorities in order, your hopes of success instantly become brighter than ever.

You’re Not Alone

While some life improvements are all about you, many others can be achieved by embracing help and support. For example, you may get a friend to take on a new hobby with you. Or a family member may provide a helping hand when you start decorating the home. Even if it’s simply gaining tips from an online forum, a problem shared is a problem halved.

If nothing else, teaming up with others allows you to leverage success from their experiences too. Suddenly Everest feels like Snowdon. There’s still some hard work ahead, but you are more than capable of reaching the summit. You’ve totally got this!

This post is super helpful. I’ve also found a lot of apps useful lately, like habit trackers! Using these (alongside other apps) have helped me stick to a habit of doing everything every day like practising a new language (I am now somewhat a fluent beginner in Romanian!) or hitting my water intake goal x
