What would you do if you suddenly had a big chunk of cash? Would you save it or would you spend it? I’m sure we’ve all got a list of things we would buy if we became millionaires overnight. There are many ways in which you can find yourself with such a large amount of cash. If you play the lottery then you are one step closer to winning, you might be left some inheritance by an elderly relative or there may be some other reason why you get a big chunk of cash.

How I would spend the cash

I don’t play the lottery regularly but I think it’s something that I need to get into more. I would love to have some extra money and this is how I would spend it if I had a big win..

Pay off my debts – You won’t be surprised to hear that two degrees has put me in a lot of debt. One of the first thing I would do with the cash is pay off my student loans. I would need a lot of money to pay these off!

Book a big holiday – I’ve already had my ‘once in a lifetime’ holiday which was my trip to Orlando, Florida in 2016. I never thought that I would be able to go over there and it was a dream come true. I would definitely go back if I could afford it and I would spend a couple of days visiting the beach in Florida too. This is something we didn’t do while we were there in 2016 as we didn’t hire a car.

Travel around Europe – I have definitely been bitten by the Travel Bug. Ever since my trip to Paris in 2013, I’ve been keen to explore as many new places as I can. This year I have been to four new countries (Luxembourg, Poland, Hungary and Slovakia) by myself but there are so many others on my list. I would love to go inter-railing and visit a few countries over the space of a few weeks.  High on my list is Prague (Czech Republic), Copenhagen (Denmark), Berlin and Hamburg (Germany), Ljubljana (Slovenia),  Wroclaw and Warsaw (Poland) and Vienna (Austria). I think that I could definitely get all of these done over three weeks and it would be a brilliant experience.

Buy a car – I passed my driving test three years ago and I still haven’t bought my first car. I’ve been putting it off because it’s just such a big expense. I know I’m going to have to give in and buy one soon. Having some extra cash would mean I would have no excuse not to buy one. It would definitely make my life so much easier.

Take a look here to see how other people have spent huge chunks of cash that they’ve got.
