Let’s face it, while we love summer and it reminds us of beaches and cocktails, it’s not entirely the best season for our skin and hair. When seasons change, we also need to change our skincare routine. Because our skin is drier and oilier, we shall decide which skincare products are to be stored and used again when Spring or Fall comes in. Due to the increase in the oil flow of our skin, we are also more prone to what we fear the most: uncontrollable breakouts.

In addition, to fully take care of our skin, our skincare routine will not the only one that needs revamping. Our makeup products needed another checking, too. For example, since our skin can be a lot oilier, we have to consider whether or not to ditch oil-based products such as our foundation. With the heat and humidity, our makeup, if we do not use apt products for the season, will definitely melt. With that, it is recommended that we substitute a full-coverage foundation with tinted moisturizers. Tinted moisturizers are pigmented enough to provide coverage and very hydrating. Popular product lines are Laura Mercier, Bobbi Brown, Nars, Belif, Maybelline, and COVERGIRL.
You may say, “I need a full coverage foundation. I can get away with the use of the correct primers”. Well, yes, you may need it to cover blemishes and other imperfections, but is it better for your skin? During this season? Well, you may be unsure how to answer that, so here are some of the reasons why you must at least consider storing away your full-coverage foundation and substituting it with tinted moisturizers:
1. Your Skin Also Needs Vacation
This is probably the most important reason in this list. No matter how efficient your skincare routine is, your skin still needs a leeway to breathe. If you think about it, you may have been using makeup daily because you need for work, parties, or any other setting that you need to look more presentable. Was your skin also constantly in an airconditioned setting? That actually drips out moisture. Have you also considered or done a skincare/makeup fast? When was the last time your skin was able to relax? Summertime is the time, girl! Besides, you may still use concealers. Just stay away from heavy products.
 2. It usually has more powerful SPF
You might be using your current foundation because it was full coverage and it had an amazing SPF. Since tinted moisturizers are formulated for summertime, of course, almost every line–if not all– has very high SPF, which aims to protect your skin with the lack of humidity and the increasing heat every single day of the season.
3. It’s two products in one
What’s best about tinted moisturizers is you get two products in one bottle: you get more powerful formulation for hydration and enough coverage to give you that sun-kissed look we all aim for our Instagram stories. However, although acting like a foundation with lighter coverage, tinted moisturizers aim to moisturize and hydrate first. While it also boasts of its coverage, it is just an add-on. Its main purpose is skincare, which is what your skin really needs in this season. To add, when you get two products in one formulation, you also save money for it. It seeks to answer two problems for the price of one.
There you go. Summer is a dreadful season for our skin, but with our careful consideration of which products are best to apply, we’ll get over this with season with hydrated and maybe even more supple skin. Your skin will thank you in the long run.
