Top tips for baking the perfect loaf of bread


Although it’s something that many people would like to try, the idea of making bread at home can be a little intimidating. After all, bread takes a long time and some effort to make, and there’s a lot of pressure to get it right! If making your own bread is something that you’ve always wanted to do then the good news is that there are several great tools and resources out there that you can use to help you put together the perfect loaf.
We’ve listed some top tips to help you with better bread making.

Tip #1. Invest in an Electric Mixer
One of the most important things when making your own bread is making sure that the consistency of the dough is just right. If it is not, you could be faced with all kinds of problems once you’ve baked your bread, from it being too hard to too soft, or even worse – lumpy!

Tip #2. Take Accurate Measurements

Instead of adding flour to the dough when you are kneading it, a good alternative is to use an olive oil spray – spray a light mist onto the counter and your hands. Tip #4. Proof the Yeast
Proofing yeast is basically proving that it is still alive, eating sugar, and emitting carbon dioxide bubbles. If you are using fresh yeast in your recipe, it may not be quite as important to proof it. However, if like many first-time bread bakers you’re going to be using some yeast that you’ve had stashed in the back of your pantry for a while, then it’s important to proof it before you begin. To do this, warm up some water no hotter than 140°F and add a tiny pinch of sugar before stirring. Wait 10-15 minutes – if the mixture becomes foamy with a head on top, your yeast is ready to go.
