I think we can safely say it’s spring now, right? The clocks have gone forward, it’s April, Easter has been and gone.. Surely the weather can only get better now? Whatever the weather is doing, I’m going to be embracing spring for now. It’s time to put away the dark lip colours and the winter wardrobe and start brightening everything up. The easiest way to update your look is with your makeup. I’ve been browsing Notino and have found some items that will help to give a brighter, lighter looking base and add a pop of colour.
As I usually wear a much lighter foundation during the spring/summer, I need to make sure I use a good colour correcting primer underneath. This L’Oreal Paris Infallible Anti-Redness primer would work a treat to disguise any redness. I’ve been wanting to try the new L’Oreal primers for a while, so I’ll definitely be picking this up.
You’ve probably seen all of the hype surrounding this concealer online already. Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define concealer is actually as amazing as everyone says it is! I’ve already made my way through two bottles of the stuff and now it’s on Notino, I’m going to be stocking up on it as it’s always sold out in the shops. It’s a high coverage concealer which rivals some of the higher end favourites (Tarte Shape Tape for one) but is an absolute bargain. I can use the shades C1 and C2, although I might pick up a darker shade for the summer.
The best way to add a pop of colour to your makeup look is with a lipstick. You hear a lot about the Estée Lauder foundations but have you ever tried their lipsticks? I have one in a dark purple shade but would love to try out this Estée Lauder Pure Color Envy Matte lipstick in a lovely pink shade. I don’t really wear pink lipstick very often and it’s something I would like to change that.
Pastel eyeshadows are something that my makeup collection is severely lacking. I can usually be found wearing warm red or orange tones as I find that these suit my colouring. However, I would love to try out some pastel shades for the spring and I’ve found this Bobbi Brown Pastel Brights Eye Palette which has six shades in pastel hues. I think that these would look nice with just a bit of mascara for a fresh, spring look.
Finally, an item that actually isn’t makeup – the Caudalie Beauty Elixir. This just screams spring/summer to me, probably because I first bought it on a hot day in Paris. I love to use this over my makeup as a kind of setting spray but I also like to use it throughout the day to refresh my face a bit. It has a lovely minty scent which just reminds me of sunny days. I always have to have a bottle of this in my bag when it’s warm!
What are your picks for the spring?
