Picking up a new hobby

Now I’m at university again, I’ve found that I’ve been looking for a new hobby to take my mind off my studying. Obviously, I need to study and make sure I’m keeping up with my work but when I have some down time between lectures, it would be nice to have something to do that’s not related to the human skeleton. That’s actually how I started my blog almost seven years ago – I wanted a distraction from my undergraduate degree, so I decided to start writing about something a bit different.

Crochet/Knitting

I’ve been wanting to learn how to either crochet or knit for the longest time now (it’s even on my 30 before 30 list), but I just haven’t been able to get to grips with it myself. I think I either need to get someone to teach me or go to one of those knitting groups (I think there’s one at uni) so that I can copy what other people are doing. I would love to be able to make myself a scarf for the winter (or maybe next winter) and a big cosy blanket for my bed. If you have any recommendations for tutorials/videos then please let me know!

Scrapbooking

I’ve bought a scrapbook and some materials to go inside it but I have just never got around to getting it started. I would love to print out all of my photos from my trip to Florida and get them all in one book. When I’m at home next weekend, I think I’ll get my scrapbook and all of the materials and bring them back to Winchester with me so that I can give scrapbooking a go. I’m not very creative, but I’m sure I can stick a few photos down in a book!

Bingo

I don’t usually play any online games but I have recently been hearing a lot about online bingo and it sounds like so much fun. I wouldn’t want to sit in a bingo hall and play it as I think I’d be one of the youngest there but online it wouldn’t matter at all and there are multiple different games to choose from so it would never get boring. I would love to get myself a hobby that could possibly win me some cash!

Rambling

This is something I never thought I’d hear myself saying I wanted to try, but Winchester is such a beautiful area and there’s so many different walks I could go on. I have been thinking about joining the Rambling Society at university and getting myself a bit of fresh air and exercise while also taking in the beautiful Hampshire countryside.

What hobbies have you got?
