Guest Post: The Safest Places In the World To Visit When Traveling Abroad

Are you considering where to go for your overseas adventure? With so many options available it can be difficult to determine which places are best, and most importantly, which locations are extremely safe for travelers. Let’s check out four of the safest destinations around the world.

Singapore, Singapore

This single-city nation is considered one of the safest places in the world. Crime rates are exceptionally low, due to the country’s extremely strong stance on any illegal actions. Even extremely minor acts like spitting in public, can potentially lead to a fine.

The traffic is relatively light and the footpaths are wide, making walking extremely easy. When going further afield, it is easy to hail a safe and comfortable taxi. A state-of-the-art MRT system also allows for easy navigation of the city.

As for the weather, Singapore experiences a wet season, which can lead to some occasional heavy downpours, however the city’s drainage is so effective that there is never any real flooding. Overall Singapore experiences very little danger from the elements.

English fluently is extremely high in Singapore, with English being one of the country’s official languages. This makes communication easy if you do have any unexpected problems. Most people are extremely friendly and will go out of their way to help you. For any major medical issues, you be assured that Singapore has one of the best healthcare systems in the world. A range of world class hospitals are available to relieve any ailment.

Wellington, New Zealand

New Zealand’s capital city maintains a very peaceful way of life. Being situated by the coast and surrounded by mountains, creates a beautiful natural setting, which makes for a much less stressful environment than the concrete jungle of many other cities around the world. This helps people relax, keeping tempers and frustrations low, in turn leading to an extremely low crime rate.

The city has a very effective public transport system consisting of buses and trains. There are also numerous walkways and bike paths, making the city easy to navigate, whatever your chosen method may be. The risk of having an accident, from traveling via any method, is extremely low.

Wellington has cool winters and mild summers. For most of the year the climate is considered not too cold and not too hot. The lack of extremes means that travelers are unlikely to experience ill effects like heat stroke or pneumonia.

Stockholm, Sweden

This is a large and dynamic city, which also maintains an extremely low crime rate. Violence against travelers is pretty much unheard of. Obviously, like in any large city, petty crime such as bag snatching can occur. However, even these occurrences are extremely rare. The city is also free of natural disasters such as earthquakes, volcanic activity, and extreme storms. This makes it safe on virtually all accounts.

Many of the people in Stockholm are highly educated and speak excellent English. This makes it easy to socialize and make friends. If you do require assistance with any matter, there is likely to be a local nearby that not only speaks English, but is also very happy to help you.

Koh Samui, Thailand

Those looking to escape the cities should pay a visit to one of Thailand’s most stunning islands. This tropical paradise boasts sweeping unspoiled beaches and beautiful flora and fauna. However, this is not some desert island, as it also offers modern infrastructure, including high quality hospitals in the case of an emergency.

As far as crime as concerned, the only thing that may occur is getting overcharged at the market. Petty crime rates are extremely low, and violent crime almost non-existent. However, common sense should still be used by never leaving valuables unattended.

The only cause for concern is the tap water, which is why it is highly recommended to just drink bottled water. Conveniently, pretty much every hotel, store, and restaurant sell it. Furthermore, restaurants catering to foreigners prepare their meals using clean water instead of tap water.

Why Not Pay A Visit?

What all these places have in common are that they are relatively crime free, have decent infrastructure in case of an emergency, have friendly and helpful local people, and are extremely safe in general with a positive travel review. Perhaps you are planning a trip, or just dreaming about one. Either way, a visit to any one of these locations is extremely unlikely to result in any danger.
