Fashion: How to deal with Britain’s ‘summer’

It’s August and yesterday I went out in a waterproof jacket. Fully zipped up, with the hood up. So much for summer, eh? I had so many plans for this summer, including a couple of festivals (and you’ve probably seen how Y Not Festival went last weekend) and I’ve got a trip to Brighton coming up next week. I don’t think I’ll be sitting on the beach with an ice cream as apparently it’s going to rain while we’re there – brilliant! I’ve recently bought a couple of pairs of sandals but it looks like I won’t be wearing them until next year now if the weather carries on like this! I’ve been living in my Dr Marten boots for the past couple of weeks.

I’ve had to put my shorts and sandals away and bring my tights and boots back to the front of my wardrobe. Even though it’s raining, it’s still quite warm so it’s not really appropriate to be getting out the thick knitted jumpers and wearing jeans everyday. In this kind of weather, I’ve found that it’s best to stick with dresses or skirts with either thin or fishnet tights just to protect your legs from the rain. I’ve had to start using my ‘winter handbag’ that isn’t likely to get damaged by the weather and make sure that I carry my windproof umbrella with me at all times.

Hopefully this weather will improve as I do really want to get some use out of my summer wardrobe and have some fun outdoors; there’s so much I want to do like visit the zoo and take my cat out for a walk. I’ve got my fingers crossed for an Indian Summer in September before autumn sets in.

I never know what to wear due to the great british weather! Most of the time I live in jeans so it’s nice to change it up. I need to get a waterproof jacket.

I like that Joules coat, I saw it in the store but I think they had it in red and that would be the colour for me

This ‘summer’ weather if just the worst right!? I get all wrapped up and then the sun comes out- or wear shorts only to get rained on. Like everyone else I LOVE that yellow coat!

It sucks that summertime for us has changed so drastically. I’m finding I’m in jeans much more than I usually am during the summer x

It really doesn’t feel like summertime where we are… It’s been raining pretty much every day… A jacket like that is a must!
