At the moment, I have no idea where I’m going to be living when I go back to uni to do my masters degree. I still have to wait to find out how much loan I will be getting and I can’t afford to start looking for somewhere to live until that comes through. It’s going to be a bit of a last minute situation and it’s making me kind of nervous but that doesn’t mean that I haven’t been looking at homeware to take with me.
One thing I love buying is bedding but I don’t know whether I’m going to have a single or a double bed wherever I live, so I can’t buy that yet but I can get other bits and pieces like cushions and storage. My room at the moment is very white – white drawers, white bed, white desk etc. so I can take those down with me if I need to, so I’ve been looking at copper/rose gold homeware to go with them. How cute is the copper and marble lamp? It’s a proper blogger lamp!
When you’re living in rented accommodation, you can’t really start nailing things to the walls so I also like to get a lot of picture frames to put on top of my furniture so I can have photos of my friends and family with me. In my second and third years of my undergrad, I used white-tack to put photos up on my walls but some landlords can be really funny about that, so you have to be careful.
Another thing I love buying is kitchenware and bathroom bits but when you’re living in a shared house with strangers (which unfortunately is probably all I will be able to afford as a postgrad student), you can’t really have a bespoke bathroom or designer kitchen. I will do my best to make it my own, but I know from past experiences that things can go missing or get damaged.
